What’s In The Box?

Mario Question Block GIF

Good news, everyone! Sometime in the next 30 days a design that was posted here on this blog will become an actual product you can purchase. This isn’t some minor trinket, but a full-fledged product that will be carried by several major retailers and can be ordered online.

So what is it? I’m going to withhold that for now, but I wanted to create some excitement and invite people to peruse the backlog of posts and speculate on what that product could be. Feel free to post your guess in the comments below.

Shortly after the mystery product’s launch, I will be holding a few giveaways on Facebook and Twitter, so be sure to follow me on those if you want a chance to win one, or just want to stay up to date.

I’m really excited about this! I’m currently awaiting a few product samples at the moment, but I’ve seen pictures of the prototypes and final production units and it looks amazing.

I’m often asked why I don’t Kickstarter this or Indiegogo that, and the simple answer is most designs involve licensing (Batman, Star Trek), and prototypes cost a mortgage to produce. Several companies have kicked the tires on my designs over the years, a few even green-lit some products, but nothing materialized.

That all changes in the next month. So please check out the backlog of posts, speculate away, and enjoy the lead up to what is hopefully the first of many realized products that began here on this blog.

  1. This is exciting, I can’t wait to hear more!

Just for fun, my guess is the Warp Core Lamp. That’s the post that made me aware of this site and I’ve seen lots of people running with the idea with 3D printed / Arduino builds of the lamp. ThinkGeek recently released a “Warp Core USB Car Charger” and there were several comments about a desktop version. My fingers are crossed that it’ll be realized!

In any case, congratulations and I’m looking forward to further info on the product!

  2. Always thought you had good ideas, and almost stopped following for the constant Canucks hate, but I can honestly say congratulations. Seriously happy to see good things coming to you. Awesome news.

  3. Congratulations Dave! I’ve been following you since THOR hammer tool kit and I really hope (and pray, literally) to see it in my house someday.
