This is one of those “I’m surprised this doesn’t exist yet” posts, because Final Fantasy Tactics was inspired by chess, so why isn’t there a tie-in chess board?
My thoughts turned to FFT when I saw this neat Super Mario chess set. I managed to resist buying the Mario set, only because I wanted something a little more sophisticated to match my maturity level (hey stop laughing), hence my need for a Tactics-based set.
Like the Mario set, I hope a FFT board would include figurines for all the playing pieces. Each figurine would need a base that identifies their position (Pawn, Knight, Bishop, Rook, etc.), something I think the Mario set definitely lacks.
Note: sorry I didn’t include all 32 pieces in the image, that would’ve taken a few days to illustrate.
Thought I’d design a fun fridge that looks and works like a vending machine. This would be ideal for any soda or beer company theme (Coke, Nuka-Cola, Duff Beer), but for this post I figured Futurama’s Slurm would be best.

An office desk that looks like Homer Simpson’s control panel which looks like a partially-eaten donut. Not quite an Inception level of deep, but close enough for me. With this desk, you’d be able to “work” like Homer, which is essentially leaning back and putting your feet up to relax on the job.

I had somewhat of an ordeal acquiring a Game Boy Advance in the last few months. Rose Colored Gaming is sold-out (they can no longer acquire back-lit screens for GBAs), I also had no luck on Craigslist, a few used video games stores had nothing available. It was almost enough to make me quit!

Here is a fun trinket for your desk: a Zelda treasure chest that features a Rupee floating in mid-air. This is made possible by magnetic levitation, something you’ve probably seen before (like that floating Tardis).

Inspired by the beautiful new IG Field stadium in Winnipeg, I thought I’d put together a stadium design for my Calgary Stampeders. As you probably surmised from the title and image, this stadium features a distinct horse shoe roof.

Here’s a design for kids: a bunk bed based on the Velociraptor cage from the first Jurassic Park film. The box shape and ladder make for a perfect bunk bed.
It features a sliding door that allows access to the lower bed. You could make lift gates at both ends of the bed to match the cage, but I think that would make getting in and out of bed rather annoying.
Some lighting would be helpful for the lower bunk too, if only to recreate the “Raptor getting tased” scene!
I didn’t think of this until now, but several drawers and cubby-holes can also be implemented throughout the bed frame, to help store junk and such.
My only qualm with this design is having to punch out a hole in the bed frame at the top of the ladder, which prevents this from looking exactly like the raptor cage; however that’s in keeping with all bunk bed designs, so safety and accessibility should be considered for a real-life bed.
In summary, the greatest parents ever would make this for their kids.
