Recieved My Direwolves Jerseys!
I got my Direwolves jerseys the other day! I’ve been thinking about how these would look since I started this way back in early August, and I have to say they exceeded my expectations in so many ways. They are not perfect (see below), and a few things will be addressed for the second run that is now being offered.
The good: First off, I expected sublimated (printed) jerseys with the twill crests sewn on. Instead, they are fully-constructed jerseys. Each stripe was individually assembled, and it looks beautiful. This was the primary reason for the delay of the jerseys, and it was worth it. These were only $60 Canadian!
The names and numbers also exceeded expectations. I thought the name would be printed onto a namebar and stitched on. Instead, each individual letter is stitched directly to the jersey. The numbers are also thick, because they are layered and double-stitched (a smaller white 7 is sewn onto a larger grey 7).
The Bad: The jersey is not perfect, and while this isn’t much consolation for those who ordered, it will be addressed in the second run. The only gripe is the front crest had a few air bubbles beneath the surface. It doesn’t ruin the jersey, and is only visible up-close. It adds a rugged look to the Direwolf, actually. But going forward the front crest will have that layered double-stitch quality the numbers have - hence the price increase of $10 for the second run.
Other minor nitpicks: The stripes could be 25-33% thicker, as you can see in the comparison above. The arm stripes could also be a few inches higher as well. This doesn’t affect the jersey at all, some teams have stripes that thin and that low in placement - just a personal preference.
Overall, I am thrilled with them. Their construction makes them look more authentic. The low price tempered my expectations.
Sounds like some of you are turning heads with these - I have received several e-mails in the last few days from people who have seen others wearing this item. I didn’t expect that kind of reception!
For those who ordered and are still waiting they should be in your hands in any day now. Thank-you for your patience, I am sure they are worth the wait!
