Inspired by the beautiful new IG Field stadium in Winnipeg, I thought I’d put together a stadium design for my Calgary Stampeders. As you probably surmised from the title and image, this stadium features a distinct horse shoe roof.
You could also say it’s a C-shaped roof, for the city of Calgary. However most (outdoor) football stadiums are usually in a north-south orientation so it would just look like a horse shoe on Google maps.
While I’d love to see the Stamps do something like this for their next stadium, I hope they go for a covered dome; the coldest day of my life was the 1993 Western Division Final.
I love this!
To make it work, it would need to be able to accommodate about 35,000 for Grey Cups and NHL Outdoors.
