Police Roadside Stop Safety
To help assist Police Officers who are making dangerous roadside stops, I propose an extending sign that has three functions: a) acts as a visible barrier for motorists to avoid and give clearance to the officer, b) is alarmed and can alert the Officer if the sign is struck, c) projects a laser line to act like a temporary traffic lane for very dark conditions.
The sign could extend out of the rear trunk area/rear tail lights casing.
I imagine the boys in blue won’t be too thrilled — at a glance it is about the same as one of those extending stop signs you see on school buses. But despite all the flashing lights, there is still a safety risk, so any kind of early hit-detection system and/or added visibility would be beneficial.
