Paperless Receipts And Warranties
It is recommended you make a photocopy of a receipt or warranty, because the ink used to print them tends to fade over time. Or you’ll get a brand new receipt that is barely visible to begin with. Either way, this can be problematic if you need to return your purchase or make use of that warranty.
However, it is 2011! So there needs to be a way to cut out the paper altogether, and go paperless when it comes to receipts, warranties, and even those pesky rebates.
There are 2 ways this can be done:
A. Using your debit or credit card for a purchase, the receipts/warranties are sent directly to your online banking account, where you can access and manage them. Need a return? Just print out the receipt. Though I think in this day and age, the store should track the purchase to your debit/credit card to begin with.
B. Carry a small Flash drive on your key chain and then download the receipts at the point of purchase. Once you place your drive into the device at the register, it will know to transmit all the data to it, instead of printing out a receipt.
All the receipts would be in .PDF format. To ensure there is no tampering, the store would have an internal database it could compare the customer receipt to.
Not only would this save paper and help the environment, but you can now have a convenient database for all your receipts. This would be extremely beneficial for businesses, as well as families and individuals come tax season.
