Easy To Clean Gadgets
If you dare to look closely at your mouse or game controller, you’ll see yucky grime embedded in the grooves where the casing snaps together and within small openings.
This is a combination of the oils secreted by your hands and the dust/dirt that dwell in the room. It is disgusting.
To clean this grime away from the gadget, some people will take a needle or nail and scrape along the grooves and cavities. Or they would grab a screwdriver and dismantle the gadget for a thorough cleaning, however they risk voiding warranties or perhaps breaking the gadget.
I don’t think it should be this way. These devices should include outer shells that can be quickly detached or opened, allowing for a quick wipe down. The electronic guts can still be enclosed internally - just the casing shell needs to be removable or pliable.
As much as I’d like to see companies like Logitech and Microsoft and Sony adopt this feature for their product lines, they probably won’t. Despite the relative ease of engineering and design, it would be an admission that their products are prone to grime and they don’t want consumers thinking about this everyday reality.
