Thanks That Was Fun
Well it’s time to bring things to a close here at Dave’s Geeky Ideas. I will no longer be posting content going forward. I’ve enjoyed doing this for the past 28 months, but it’s time to move on and pursue other interests.
There are many reasons for making this decision. The main one being there is little to no value for the content I am generating here, which makes it difficult to justify my efforts. And the more I grow this body of work the harder it is to feel it’s been worthwhile.
And that can take a toll on you! It’s one thing to post a piece of art or write a review, but when you share your imagination and a lot of it falls by the wayside you begin to think it’s better to internalize your thoughts.
Yes there is interest from a lot of people, and it’s nice to be popular at times, but at this point I hoped even just a few ideas would germinate and spread and really take hold. A bit naive I know - but I relied on a lot of naivety to do all this.
Secondly a lot of negativity out there for what I do helped contribute to this decision. To those who say I “don’t have a life”, I counter with I do. It’s a very creative life. To those who lament I “have too much time on my hands”, I say time wasn’t the problem. I had too much imagination on my hands.
And lastly I need some focus in my life. This blog just helped perpetuate a lack of direction for me personally. Do I want to be a video game artist or designer? A furniture designer? Media package designer? Script writer? Gadget designer? Animator? Graphic artist? Creative Director? Hockey Jersey designer? Engineer? Architect? I hope to figure it out and seek out the requisite education that will enable such a role.
Thanks to those who tuned in, hoped you enjoyed what you saw here. Please peruse the archives, many of these ideas don’t have an expiry date and none have come to fruition.
(Note: the domain davesgeekyideas.com will eventually lapse and this blog will revert to originaldave77.wordpress.com - Jan1st 2013).

Wow, very sad news. I loved your site and your ideas! Sorry to hear that the haters helped push you out, all the best in your future endeavors.
So Long and Thanks for All the Fish.
I’ve enjoyed reading this, and I’m glad I was able to follow your brainstorms.
Dave, this blog has been truly inspiring to follow; any naysayers are 100% jealous of the amazing stream of ideas that you have been generous enough to share with the rest of us. Continue to do great things!
I came late to the blog, but have loved what I’ve seen. Whatever avenue you pursue, I’m sure you will do amazing things.
Sorry to hear it…as a latecomer to the site it quickly became a regular stop and just purchased my first jersey (and hoped to see more down the road). Best of luck!
Thanks Dave! I loved your hockey jerseys the most but thought all your stuff was very creative and awesome. Best of luck to your future!
Ooph! What a gut blow. I love(d) your blog. Good luck to you.
Loved your work buddy, and your jersey designs were top notch. Disappointing, but Io wish you all the best in the future.
Good luck chief. I must say i had fun.
Like many artists, nothing is appreciated until it is gone! All great art is that way! People can sure be mean behind the internet! Shame on them. Hope you come back when the creative juices get flowing! TAKE CARE!
I’ve really enjoyed seeing your ideas and takes on various forms of geekery. We need more people like yourself, but if it ain’t fun, no point in doing it. Thanks for bringing some really cool stuff to market and good luck in the future.
Sorry to hear about that Dave
I was really looking forward to Zelda version 2. Good luck with whatever your creative energies lead you to do next!
Sad news
I really liked a lot of your ideas (even when I posted critiques), and enjoyed sharing them with friends. I understand being interested in too many things - it seems there is no place for a creative person who wants to experiment in everything, and, like non-creative jobs, we must make a decision as to which pigeonhole to choose. Best of luck in whatever you pursue, and I hope it re-lights the fire!
Damn to Bad. Good luck In your future endeavors I really enjoyed your work and have 2 of your hockey jerseys to prove it.
To all those negative people that put down all your amazing ideas…karma is running rampant right now….just saying! Thanks for all the epic hockey jerseys Dave! I shall be wearing them proudly this year once hockey season starts back up! Good luck with everything in the future! Big things WILL happen for you!
I’ve enjoyed your creativity and have felt inspired by many of your ideas. Sad to see you go, but grateful for what you have shared this far.
Dave,
I have really enjoyed your designs and good luck to you in the future. Once you figure out what it is you want to be when you grow up I am sure it will be a successfull venture because you are very talented. Good Luck and you will be missed from and I know I can speak for many of us here in the cyber hangout while actually sitting here in buffalo, n.y.
p.s.- a couple jerseys currently hanging in my closet prove my point!
Wow, I’m really disappointed.
It’s been a great ride Dave. I can’t speak for all your readers, but I can tell you that I highly respect your work and greatly admire all that you posted here. Your creativity is really extraordinary. I am almost as disappointed as you knowing the fact that these ideas (which are incredible!) haven’t come to fruition. I’m sorry, but I understand that this wasn’t easy for you, creating the blog, keeping it updated, and ultimately deciding to end it.
As for your note about the negativity, I have never heard of such a thing of all the times I’ve perused your site. Your work is extraordinary (not even exaggerating) and any negativity concerning it simply cannot be taken seriously because it is not legitimate. Fact.
Anyway, I wish you the best of luck Dave. I don’t know you personally, but you are a great inspiration for everybody. Keep those creative juices flowing, and I hope you see nothing but success in your future because you deserve it 110%.
My RSS feeds won’t be the same without Dave’s Geeky Ideas
I’ve enjoyed your blog. It was one of the few that I actually would read. lol. Well, keep your head up. You’ve got a ton of talent. I wish I was able to create some images of what’s in my head as well as you do.
May you find some time to post to a G+ or Facebook account from time to time. I’d hate to see you disappear completely.
May you find what you’re looking for.

Thanks so much for the great work that you did. I purchased one of the jerseys and I’m excited to receive it. Keep up the great creative work in whatever avenue it takes you. Please know that at least this one hockey jersey fanatic with a collection of over 50 jerseys has one of yours hanging in the closet. Godspeed.
I bought two of the Jerseys that were designed and posted at Rinkgear (Browncoat 1.0 - Captain America) and am waiting on Capt America to arrive. I got CA because the Browncoats one turned out so well. You are a grand designer but can understand your want for focus and direction free of distractions. I wish you well and hope someone at Rinkgear will pick up the torch. This is not an end, just a continuation of a new journey. Peace.
I always looked forward to new updates from both the “Ideas” and the “Hockey” blogs, and am disappointed that this will be the last of them. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and creations with the world. Hasta la vista.
I just came across this site at the beginning of this year and have thoroughly enjoyed your work! I’m bummed that you’re not going to continue on, but it’s understandable.
Don’t let the haters get you down!
GOOD LUCK in all that you do.
(I plan on trying to build that Bender Mini Cooler idea of yours…If that original coke mini cooler ever comes down in price)
It was very sad for us to hear this news. We loved working with you; your designs are inspiring and gave a lot of people great joy. We will continue to release fun geeky jerseys, including many of the designs that you created.
We wish you the best of luck in all of your endeavours. We are certain you’ll do great things.
Please know that you will always have a home at RinkGear.
Sad times for us out here in the blogosphere. Will you keep twitter or Facebook updated with your next creative output?
Hey, reading this has compelled me to finally post something. All I really want to say is that whoever is saying anything negative about what you’ve been doing, don’t. have. a. stinking. clue. I’ve been following your work since I missed the initial Tardis jersey and have been waiting eagerly for its re-release. and I regret not saying something earlier along the lines of how much I love the ideas. Good luck with your next direction, I just had to tell you how much I tell people about your Futurama hockey jersey design. It was brilliant. Cheers
Got to say I’m going to miss coming here and seeing all the great ideas. A lot of the stuff I’ve seen on here has inspired me to start 3D animation and design. Good Luck in all you do!
I just found this blog a few weeks ago (when your Avengers Shield Helicarrier box set idea was featured) and I have enjoyed going back through the archives, you had some great ideas that were very inspiring! Honestly I wish more of the ideas here were actual products, I know I would buy them. Sad to see it lapse, but good luck and don’t listen to the trolls!
Sorry to see you go Dave, you are a gentleman and a scholar. Gonna miss your designs and the thoughts behind them. Good luck in your future endeavors, and if you ever get the bug to throw some designs together, I am sure I speak for most of the people who frequent your blog, just let us know, and we will buy them.

Dave! I was just hyperlinking your brilliance to my blog and I came upon this…jeez sad day indeed. Like everyone above and unlike everyone I didn’t read as regularly as I would have liked I think your blog is and was a work of art. Not only were all the designs clever and beautifully realized you are one the few people I know who can actually write! With your smarts and talent the world is your oyster….. DLTBGYD
Your blog is very inspiring to me. I hope you can reconsider your resignation and continue your work! As it is with any talented individual, there will always be people who wish to be them, and would prefer to put the talented people down rather than to embrace the talent. Good luck to you in your future creative interests, and I will enjoy re-reading all your previous blog posts.
Your stuff is amazing I’m sorry that I won’t get to see more of it. I wish you the best and I hope your creativity gets funneled into something awesome. Im probably going to screen shot the entire blog so that I can drool over it all at my leisure. Thanks for everything!
Sorry to see you go mate. Your site was one of my weekly checks to see any new wacky designs and i will miss them. Good luck in the future.
Hope it’s only a sabbatical and you come back with more great ideas. Just found this site not long ago. The ideas themselves are great to see; any of them coming to fruition in the “real world” would just be a bonus.
