Buzz Lightyear Arcade Cabinet Design

Buzz Lightyear Arcade Cabinet design by Dave Delisle davesgeekyideas

In Toy Story 2 there was a display case seen in the Buzz Lightyear aisle that would make for a neat arcade cabinet in my opinion. Unfortunately the illuminated moon and rocket would make this tough to produce for even the most-skilled custom arcade cabinet makers.

If I could spare no expense I would get this made, but only after I have a Last Starfighter cab in my possession.

Doctor Strange Smartwatch

Doctor Strange Time Stone Smartwatch Apple design by Dave Delisle davesgeekyideas

I’ve been meaning to do a Time Stone watch or clock for a few years now, but I couldn’t think of a way to capture the green time effects. A round smartwatch display could handle that, so I made this design. The Time Stone is a button that activates the display. The red strap represents Doctor Strange’s cape.

Dr. Evil Streaming Remote

Dr. Evil Austin Powers Streaming Remote Design by Dave Delisle davesgeekyideas 2018

Do you like this quasi-futuristic remote I designed? It’s based on the device used by Dr. Evil to fire his employees. It’s intended to be a streaming remote, compatible with devices like the Roku or Chromecast. It enables users to fire up their preferred streaming service at the push of a button.

The one major change I made was the addition of a rotary joystick in the middle. It can be moved for navigating menus, pressed like a button, and rotated for volume control. This sort of input is common in cars with infotainment displays.

This remote sits on a coffee table, though it shouldn’t be too cumbersome to hold or place on your lap. It may need to be plugged into a PC or programmed from a smartphone app, much like a Logitech Harmony remote. It would come with numerous labels for all the streaming services, and it shouldn’t be too difficult to print your own if needed.

500 Posts And A Few Surprises

A bit of a personal milestone as this post is my 500th for this blog! That’s at least 500 ideas foisted onto the world (and I do mean foisted). This blog started in 2010, and yes there have been ups and downs along the way but I hope to keep doing this for the foreseeable future.

This travel kit enables you to smuggle all your grooming needs from one destination to the next. Customs can even check it! This is an empty shaving cream container that screws onto a base that holds travel-sized hygiene products.

Back To The Future Watch

BTTF Watch Design Mag Shoes NIKE 2018 Dave Delisle davesgeekyideas

Is wearable tech still a thing? Here is a wristwatch version of the Nike Mag, otherwise known as those self-lacing shoes from Back to the Future Part II. The design cues borrow from the strap and ankle brace.

The replica shoes Nike released in 2011 and 2016 still fetch obscene prices on eBay today, so I felt an alternative/affordable product would be ideal for BTTF fans. 2019 marks the 30th anniversary of the sequel, so hopefully something like this will be offered to celebrate the occasion.
