If you watch any of those DIY/home renovation channels on TV you might be aware of the latest home craze, tiny houses. These are small mobile homes which can be trucked anywhere with ease. I will now ruin this trend by making it geeky, starting with a design based on the Ghostbusters Firehouse.

Vigo The Carpathian Shadow Box
This started out as another one of my papercraft projects, but I had to pull the plug because Vigo was too difficult to cut and place into position. The goal was to create a “living painting”, much like there was in the film, with Vigo and the foreground floating above the backdrop. His eyes would’ve followed you around the room.
Ghostbusters Electrical Panel Cover
Seeing as the Ecto Containment Unit is a wall-mounted hub where many wires originate, I figured it would be a fun way to conceal electrical panels found in households (more so if the panel is in the basement). Your circuit breakers would now reside in a ghost prison.
Instead of creating an electrical panel shaped like the Ecto Containment Unit, I felt a separate cover that sits atop an existing electrical panel would be easier and cheaper to install. The design is modular so it can safely bypass all the wiring.
Ghostbusters Bunk Bed
Actually started on this one before the Jurassic Park bunk bed, but stopped because I felt it looked too much like a School Bus. Thought I’d share it now because it’s still fun to look at.
The ladder is usually on the passenger side of the vehicle, however I moved it over for presentation purposes. The front of the Ecto-1 would serve as a trunk for storage.
Ghostbusters Optical Fiber Lamp
Here’s a Ghostbusters lamp that is illuminated by optical fiber, similar to this. If I ever did a gallery show (ha!), this would be one of my fancy pieces.
Ghostbusters Sign Blu-Ray Case
Sony released a 30th Anniversary Blu-Ray Edition for Ghostbusters last week, and it features a statue of Slimer and the Ghostbusters logo. I can’t tell if that Slimer statue is dirty, or if I have a dirty mind. Anyways, I would’ve just made a snap case from the Ghostbusters sign:
At almost 1.5″ thick, there is plenty of room in this case for additional discs, booklets, and even batteries and LED lights for a light-up feature. I’d also include mounts on the spine so you can hang it on the wall like a clock, allowing this case to function like the actual Ghostbusters sign.
Ghostbusters Nightlight
Earlier today Gizmodo featured these cool Avengers-themed nightlights. They look great, fully earning their “wall art” nickname. Better yet they run on batteries, so you can place them anywhere on the wall (instead of plugging into a power outlet, which is often the norm for a nightlight).
And that brings me to the design seen above. A nightlight based on the Ghostbusters sign seen in the films, in the exact same vein as those neat Avengers nightlights. This would be a very affordable way for GB fans to procure an illuminated sign.
