Zelda Hockey Jersey 2.0 Design And Future Jersey Plans

UPDATE: Now Available until January 19th, 2012.

Just putting the finishing touches on this Zelda design (well, Link actually), in what is the next hockey jersey to go on sale (along with this Dr. Who Tardis jersey). As you can see, it is a big improvement on the first Zelda design I posted. That lace collar is so apt. Green is Link’s uniform color, anything else would be weird.

Still trying to figure out a way to place the Ocarina on the jersey, but it might not be necessary. I could do a shoulder patch, but truth be told I’m not big into shoulder patches. I like simple jerseys free of clutter - original six style.

But wait there is more! I am also working on a Princess Zelda jersey for the ladies. Not sure if I can get it to work - the Princess liked a Barbie palette of colors. If I can’t make it as cool as the Link one it will never see the light of day! Whoa - felt like Ganondorf there for a moment.

If I can make an awesome Princess Zelda jersey, it will be included in the next order*.

Future plans:

I will be posting the offer for the Zelda and Tardis jerseys in the next few days, aiming for a late January cutoff with mid-to-late February delivery. The reason for the prolonged offer window is that too many people missed the boat on the last Voltron/Game Of Thrones jersey offer. Also I don’t expect anyone to order these during December with the Holidays looming, but with a 2-month window everyone can plan for these at least.

Just sorting the pricing out with Rinkgear. The Link one above will be pricier than previous jerseys, as I want the lace collar and the front shield to be fully-embroidered with glossy metallic threads (like the Winnipeg Jets current jersey). Rinkgear provided an embroidery upgrade for the Game of Thrones jerseys last time for free, I don’t anticipate that bonus this time. Will also try to put together promotions for multiple jersey purchases.

Going forward I will do another round of Game of Thrones jerseys in a few months, which would have them arrive closer to the Season 2 premiere. Expect new Houses for this batch, and a complete overhaul for Direwolves (trying to make each jersey exclusive).

Wanted to do a Ghostbusters jersey this month as well, but decided to delay that to next fall. Regret not doing a batch a few months ago for Halloween, will not make that mistake next year.

For the spring and summer months, I’m looking at making Football Kits and Baseball jerseys available. Game of Thrones is perfect for Football - Direwolves F.C. anyone? I will try to think of some geeky stuff for Baseball.

*The next order being delivered in February, seems ideal to have a Valentine’s Day theme. I’d then try to include a few heart containers on both Link and Zelda jerseys.

  1. So how and when can these be purchased?

    • Sale starts early next week and they will be made available until late January, for late February arrival. They can be purchased by Credit Card or Paypal.

Stay tuned for the announcement and all the details, probably Monday or Tuesday.

  2. I wish I had discovered Geeky Ideas a few months ago, in time to order the GoT jerseys. But I’m glad you say they’ll be offered again!

  3. Have you considered the black/gold version Nintendo released for the recent limited edition 3ds? http://www.amazon.com/Nintendo-3DS-Limited-Legend-Zelda-Ocarina/dp/B006C47TCK/

It has a gold stencil ocarina :)

    • I did in fact make a black jersey with gold trim, inspired by that 3DS. But in the end, I felt having that colorful shield on a green jersey with a lace collar (much like Link’s costume), was too perfect.

The trouble with the Ocarina is it detracts from the jersey. It reminds me of the saxophone patch the St. Louis Blues used to wear - it wasn’t very hockey-ish.

Also, I could have placed it as a lower back patch (like the Direwolves one had), but you don’t want a ‘tooting’ patch on your butt. The things I think of when I design.
