It looks like the internet is here to stay! Why do we still treat it like an afterthought in our homes? By that I mean the hardware/installation of the internet piggybacks on outlets meant for televisions and phones. Shouldn’t we have a dedicated access point for the internet?

HE-MAN Power Bar

By the POWER of Grayskull! I’ve been wanting to design a gadget based on Castle Grayskull for several years, along the lines of a USB Hub or Car Charger. I decided to go with a power bar design based on He-Man’s sword because it would be life-size and more functional. Plus there are no geeky power bars in existence.

There’s room for more outlets and USB ports if the red switch was removed and made into a remote switch (like this old design). The power cable extends from the end of the hilt.

If the sword could power-up Prince Adam and Cringer, why didn’t He-Man point it at his allies to help their abilities as well? Hey Man-At-Arms, you are now a walking tank. Orko, you are now a powerful sorcerer. Seems kinda selfish if you ask me.

Ghostbusters Electrical Panel Cover

Ghostbusters Electrical Panel Cover by Dave's Geeky Ideas

Seeing as the Ecto Containment Unit is a wall-mounted hub where many wires originate, I figured it would be a fun way to conceal electrical panels found in householdsĀ (more so if theĀ panel is in the basement). Your circuit breakers would now reside in a ghost prison.

Instead of creating an electrical panelĀ shaped like the Ecto Containment Unit, I felt a separate cover that sits atop an existing electrical panel would be easier and cheaper to install. The design is modular so it can safely bypass all the wiring.

Video Game USB Wall Adapter

Mario Nintendo USB Wall Adapter Question Block design by Dave Delisle davesgeekyideas

Here is a USB wall adapter that features additional power outlets on the sides. It would feature an illuminated front and an optional figurine on top. This could be done for other video games: a Zelda version would feature the Triforce of Power on the front, and Link on top.

Many video games can be used for this design, like Metroid or Mega Man, as long as the design revolves around a power-up of some sort.
