Back To The Future Watch

BTTF Watch Design Mag Shoes NIKE 2018 Dave Delisle davesgeekyideas

Is wearable tech still a thing? Here is a wristwatch version of the Nike Mag, otherwise known as those self-lacing shoes from Back to the Future Part II. The design cues borrow from the strap and ankle brace.

The replica shoes Nike released in 2011 and 2016 still fetch obscene prices on eBay today, so I felt an alternative/affordable product would be ideal for BTTF fans. 2019 marks the 30th anniversary of the sequel, so hopefully something like this will be offered to celebrate the occasion.

Ghostbusters External GPU Case Design

NVIDIA Ghostbusters Trap External GPU Case Design by Dave Delisle

External GPU cases have been around for a few years. You take a desktop graphics card, stuff it into one of these cases, then plug it into a laptop for a performance boost in graphics. Ideal for turning a sluggish laptop into a gaming laptop.

One design idea for such a case is the Ghostbusters ghost trap. Not only would it be life-size, but it could store 2 graphics cards (I don’t think external GPU cases can juggle multiple cards just yet). Also NVIDIA cards have LED logos on the side, so they can emit a ghost green light as well, perfect for a ghost trap.

New York Movie Theater

NYC movie theater design by Dave Delisle

Sometimes I will post a dud here (okay most of the time I do). When a post falls flat and doesn’t draw any clicks I will nuke it from orbit. I made and posted this NYC-themed movie theater design in the summer of 2016, thought I’d re-post it now because I do like it, warts and all.

Themed Video Game Consoles

Six years ago a very cool Star Wars-themed Xbox 360 was released. It featured a C3PO controller and R2D2 console that made beeping sounds just like the astromech droid. The release of this special edition console was due to the pack-in game: Kinect Star Wars.

Spaceballs The Coffee Maker

I shrunk down a vending machine-sized coffee dispenser to the size of a regular coffee maker, all so geeks could drink coffee in style. It features an LCD screen that shows the brewing in progress, as well as the time and date.

Marvel Studios Blu-Ray Player

Marvel Studios Blu-Ray Player Design by Dave Delisle

RGB lighting is all the rage these days, so I applied these lights to your everyday Blu-Ray player. In this case it is a Marvel-themed player that is programmed to recognize and react to all Marvel movies.
