Retro Game HDMI Splitter

Hyperkin has announced a new N64 clone console, which will include HDMI like all of their other recent console releases. It reminded me of something I wanted 20 years ago, a device that would split up the game into 4 separate displays. Ideal for the many 4-player splitscreen games that graced the N64 and other consoles of the era.

NES Clone Console Design

I’ve been checking out these NES clone consoles that have come out recently for HD displays: the Retron 1 HD, Retro-Bit RES Plus, and the Gamerz Tek 8-Bit HD. I’m impressed that these complete systems all go for around $40. They all look decent, though I’m partial to the Retron design. That said I thought I’d put together my own design for a budget NES clone.

HD Game Boy System

I really want this design, because the only cartridges I own are of the Game Boy variety, and I’d like to play them on an HD television. Right now my only option to play GB games via HDMI is the Retron 5, but that system is overkill for my needs.

SEGA Genesis Classic Design

SEGA will be offering a new version of the Genesis Flashback later this year, their answer to the wildly popular NES/SNES Classic editions offered by Nintendo. It features HDMI output and 2 wireless controllers, so what’s not to love? Well it’s made by AtGames, so I strongly advise folks to wait for reviews before buying.
