Another spaceship-as-a-tent design for your eyeballs, this time based on Samus’ trusty Gunship from the Metroid series. Can you imagine seeing this parked at a campsite? The tent’s owners clearly mean business, whether its exploring, hunting, or um, sitting inside playing video games all day — all valid reasons to own such a tent.

IKEA Ribba Papercraft Part 3: Metroid
Part 1: Super Mario 3 Part 2: Super Mario Ikea Ribba Frame
Today I am very happy to share another Nintendo diorama for IKEA’s ubiquitous Ribba frame, this time a scene from Metroid (NES).
This design was created by Slawikaruga, who was generous enough to share his creation here with all Metroid fans. Thank you Slaw!
I’m very happy to see this template, not just because I’m a huge Metroid fan, but due to it being the game that inspired the whole “diorama in a shadow box frame” idea to begin with.
After the jump you can find the template to build your own.
Super Metroid Missile Lamps
The missile upgrades spread throughout Planet Zebes in Super Metroid were encased in a glass dome (well, I think they were glass domes), so I always thought they’d make for a nice display piece. And what better display than a lamp?
It probably wouldn’t be a full-on lamp mind you. Just an ambient light, something that could be used as a night light or just decoration. If it were up to me, they’d be solar-powered and would also have a light sensor to activate when it gets dark.
Also it couldn’t be a life-size replica, otherwise it would be 2-feet tall (they were 1/3 of Samus’ height in the game). Personally I’d like these to be about the size of a coffee mug, so I can leave several throughout my home.
Video Game USB Wall Adapter
Here is a USB wall adapter that features additional power outlets on the sides. It would feature an illuminated front and an optional figurine on top. This could be done for other video games: a Zelda version would feature the Triforce of Power on the front, and Link on top.
Many video games can be used for this design, like Metroid or Mega Man, as long as the design revolves around a power-up of some sort.
Decoration Idea: Video Game Screenshot Picture Box
UPDATE: There is now one you can try to make based on Super Mario Bros 3.
You know those 3D movie posters McFarlane Toys sells? Now you can make something similar for video games. Here is a fun, inexpensive DIY decoration idea for a rainy day: a picture box frame that contains a diorama of a video game screenshot. Now you can hang a 3D image of your favorite video game on the wall!
