Predicting the Nintendo 3DS

“Geeky Gadget Wish List” series will continue. Today I break things up a bit with:

Not much is known about the upcoming Nintendo 3DS except for the fact is uses parallax 3D for it’s screen(s?), and the User has the ability to switch off the 3D function. And so, I have created a mock-up that will address some other new features I think will be included:

The first major addition (besides the 3D, of course) will be an analog stick. This will cater to the many people who would like to play some first-person shooter games, like Goldeneye (depicted here).

Now in Black. *Sigh!* It's what you want! It's what they all want!

Another big tweak that I am envisioning, is that Nintendo will align the two screens as close as possible. This is to remove the apparent partition that became sometimes noticeable in game-play, allowing for a more seamless experience. When holding the 3DS like a book, it may even look like one large screen.

And lastly (for now, expect a few more predictions), Nintendo will introduce a new proprietary cart format that is exclusive to the 3DS. This is to combat piracy. Thanks to the comments I’ve been informed Nintendo has stated the 3DS to be backwards-compatible (Thanks to Tyler G).

What are your predictions?

Addendum: A few more pics by popular demand…the purple version has been tweaked:

  1. Tyler Graham

Nintendo already confirmed its backwards compatible with ds carts.

  2. Thanks - updated the post!

I predicted Nintendo would go to extreme measures - not PSPgo extreme mind you - after all their announced losses due to piracy.
