Here I was thinking I was so clever about this Star Trek blu-ray case design, but then it turned out it was already made as an actual product (see below). Not sure how I arrived at something so similar. Usually I do some checking to see if it exists or not, and the official product didn’t show up on my radar.

This design is a canister based on the cylinder-shaped parking spot in the Batcave seen in Batman: The Animated Series. A cover slides out of the way, allowing access to trays that swing out for accessing the discs. There is probably enough room for the complete series and all of the related films.

I used to make fun of the absurd Fox Puck, but a part of me thinks it would look cool if the hockey puck had LED lights embedded within. It would look remarkably different for starters, the Fox Puck relied on graphics applied in the TV broadcast (much like the line of scrimmage in football); whereas the lights would emit from the actual puck and be cast onto the nearby ice surface, boards, skates, hockey sticks, etc.
The puck would be more apparent in scrums in the corner and in the crease. I don’t know if it would look like a blur of light from a slap-shot, but I’d like to think there would be some tracer effect.
Another Back to the Future design, inspired by the Pepsi Perfect seen in Part II. It’s a bat-style stick in the shape of a Pepsi Bottle, sitting above the Pepsi dispenser table seen in the film.
Originally this would be paired up with a screen for an arcade cabinet design, the screen being similar to the ones that featured Ronald Reagan and Michael Jackson in the film; but I liked this simple arcade stick design too much.
A translucent purple wall brick that has an LED light that illuminates when plugged-in, so it could double as a nite-lite when not powering/charging USB devices. It could have Autobot or Decepticon branding, but I prefer the plain version.
Here is WALL-E in his hibernation cube mode. When plugged into the wall he has a little display that illuminates to show something is powered or charging. The display is just a back-lit piece of translucent plastic, not an actual LCD display.
Wouldn’t it be neat to hear a familiar video game chime when you unlock your front door? Like the sound when opening a dungeon or treasure chest in a Zelda game. Suddenly the mundane task of entering or exiting your home would sound like an adventure.
I feel that creating a deadbolt with a speaker would be the best way to accomplish this. Another way is to incorporate a sound chip into the key itself, but that would be difficult to create an electronic key fob that will fit onto any key.

UPDATE: You might have noticed that Zelda chime when the door rang at the beginning of the Scott Pilgrim movie! I think an accompanying door bell would be great too.
