If IKEA Made Geeky Furniture Part 11: Comic Book Rack

If IKEA Made Geeky Furniture is a series of concepts. None of these exist and are not for sale. The images are intended to parody the IKEA catalog.

With all these Superhero movies coming out this year, as well as the extensive backlog of comic book films that have been released these past few decades, I thought I’d design a DVD rack based on another type of rack - the comic book display rack.

These spinning racks are found in comic shops or drugstores. They usually feature some kind of signage at the top, which can sometimes be illuminated.

There are many cool DVD and CD racks out there, but none based on the comic book variety. This design feels like a no-brainer, so apologies if it does exist. But as far as I can tell it does not.

Making the sign into a lamp is appropriate given the height of this design, which is about 6 feet tall. I don’t know if people would enjoy illuminated signage in their house, however this rack is at home in a den or geeky entertainment room, much like a neon sign featuring a beer company logo. Or you could opt to never use it!

Apologies for using a generic Blu-Ray logo on the cases. These images would look a million times cooler if all the movies depicted were of the Superhero variety.

This would also be appropriate for video games as well. One more image after the jump…

Here it is naked, and I updated it so the sign is smaller (made it too big in the first few images).
