Metroid USB Mouse
This is a simple toy-like design where the upper half of the mouse is a clear dome, and beneath it there is a diorama-like layout, featuring the titular Metroid and Samus Aran in her ‘Morph Ball’ mode. The ball doubles as the scroll wheel.
I was inspired by my current mouse, the Razer DeathAdder, which has an LED back-lit scroll wheel that pulses a nice blue light. The Samus Morph Ball also pulses a bright green light, so it would look very similar.
Unfortunately mice are still packed with a lot of hardware (even in this day and age), so until they can stuff everything into a base as thick as an iPhone, I don’t see this happening anytime soon. I do own an NHL USB mouse that features a large section filled with liquid containing a floating puck, so there is internal real estate to be had, just not to the level of this particular design.
BONUS: A Sonic the Hedgehog USB mouse!
Well…I thought it was funny. This was sort of a gag/throwaway design, but it could work as well. EDIT: I re-did the art, and gave Sonic a hill inside the mouse casing. Here is the original design.

I really like the revised Sonic mouse! I probably wouldn’t buy one, but (like the statues at the comics shop) I would be envious
That metroid mouse is awesome!
