Matthew T.’s Steam Console Gadget
Matthew hails from Florida, and is a huge fan of Valve’s Steam service. He’d like to see a desktop gadget that would function like a mini game console:
I wanted to add a Valve switch - maybe later.
Matt says he is a hardware junkie, and was inspired by the Staples Easy Button gadget, which takes the user to the Staples website with a single press.
“I want a gadget that I can launch Steam from, and works like a console. I could plug my USB Controller and headset into it.” Matt writes.
He goes on to say: “The main reason is to show off my fanboy side!” - which is not a bad thing.
I made this design to be compact, and back-lit with LED lights. Certainly would look nice on the desk. A few other bells and whistles could be added, like light indicators for incoming friend messages for instance.
In my opinion, this would be a very inexpensive gadget - it’s really just a USB hub with a few added buttons and lights. I’m personally fine with Steam as a software entity only (well, mostly), but I would get something like this in a heartbeat.
