How NOT To Design A Game Case

I originally posted this back in December. It is a game concept I made for a creative agency that closed in September. The parent company for the game got upset that I used their logos and sent me a Cease and Desist. I have blurred out the logos. All references to the game have been removed. Original post as follows:

I did not design or conceive this idea, another artist did (images since removed - Lawyers got to him too. They have way too much time on their hands). I was tasked with making a 3D version and animating it for demonstration. Basically it was a motorized display case that contained an Encyclopedia and a video game. The case had a glass top and numerous LED lights all over.

This is a severely flawed design. The game is difficult to access - it sits in a sunken cavity below the book. To make things worse the book is extremely difficult to remove. That picture above should demonstrate both. As designed, it is practically impossible to take the book out of this case and put it back in. I tried to with the 3D model, no way no how.

The main culprit of the design flaw is the front of the glass extends to cover the front section of the case, not just the book. Also the glass cover was really low, so there wasn’t much clearance.

It also lies flat and that is just not a very good way to present the book and game. You have to be looking down it to see the main title, so a space like a coffee table would be ideal. On a book shelf or entertainment unit it would look pretty nondescript.
