HUD Alarm Clock Design

Heads Up Displays have been commonplace in cars for a few decades now, where they project useful information onto the windshield for drivers to see. Well now I feel this tech could be used for in-home applications, specifically alarm clocks.

The reason for this is to drastically reduce the bright light that most digital alarm clocks emit, which can be annoying for many people trying to sleep. With a HUD display, the light is projected upwards onto glass, resulting in a clear but not too overpowering display.

This configuration is similar to a car’s HUD, the tinted glass is tilted like a windshield. I added a large canopy above the display to trap the light. This canopy also serves as a huge ‘snooze’ button as well, because we could all use one of those.

The glass would be tinted in a dark color so the time can be seen during the day as well, I just went with a light blue for presentation purposes here. The back might also need to be enclosed too.

Overflow Train Cars

Vancouver has one of the best mass transit systems in the world, but I do not miss the crowded trains that happen during peak times. I propose special ‘Overflow’ train cars that sit at the front and back of a train, increasing passenger capacity. This creates a longer train that extends beyond the length of existing platforms.

Arrested Development Drink Coaster Set

You may not get Hop-Ons, but you’ll get plenty of guests with hop-filled beverages who will threaten the surfaces of your furniture. This set features a stack of coasters piled onto the back of the Bluth Stair Car.

Arrested Development season 5 debuts in a few weeks! Always nice to get a surprise like that on short notice. I hope they recapture the magic of seasons 1-3, season 4 was just okay (though still better than many other comedies nowadays).

Wayne’s World Tabletop Hockey

Wayne's World Tabletop Hockey Garthmobile Design by Dave Delisle

I’ve been thinking about how it would be fun to have a mini 1 vs 1 tabletop hockey set, with a single shooter squaring off against a goalie. There was no interesting way to showcase that concept until I thought of Wayne’s World, specifically the scene where Wayne and Garth are playing street hockey.

Jurassic Park Tablet Theater

I haven’t done a Jurassic Park design in a long time, so how about this…boring desk? I’ll clear up the confusion shortly, but first let me start off by saying that I was inspired by this neat Millennium Falcon Theater. In that setup a tablet device is elevated, allowing users to lie underneath it and watch movies.

Transforming Arcade Cabinet

Here’s an arcade cabinet that can transform into a driving cabinet, ideal for playing a greater variety of arcade games while saving some space in your living quarters. This is my dream gaming device, allowing me to stand up and play Pac-Man, or sit on my butt and play American Truck Simulator.
