Unified Super Mario NES Covers

This was just a personal pet project to make all three Super Mario games for the NES look uniform in appearance, mainly in the style of Super Mario 3. The lower wordmark logos were for the sides of the box (and the top of the cartridge label too). Nothing against the first two games’ box art, which are iconic, this was just for fun.

The goal was to print these for some plastic clamshell boxes (like these ones I have) for display on my shelf, but I gave these games away to my nephews last year. Might still do this if I ever get the games again.

A Budget Nintendo Switch For Couch Gamers

Screen-free Nintendo Switch design by Dave Delisle davesgeekyideas

The Nintendo Switch was unveiled today, and it’s an impressive console that captures the best of both worlds: console and handheld gaming. There’s a lot to like here, I personally think the controller configurations have a lot of potential.

Super Mario USB Gadgets

If Razer or Logitech ever had a lapse in judgement and offered me a job, I would pitch a bunch of Super Mario USB gadget designs, even though Nintendo has zero history of PC or Mac related ventures. You can never have enough Nintendo-themed stuff, in this blogger’s opinion.

Nintendo NX Concept

Nintendo’s already working on their next console, which goes by the code name NX. It’s rumored to be ditching the disc drive in favor of flash carts for new games, and will be compatible with a large range of mobile devices (Nintendo’s own handhelds, plus smartphones and tablets). It will likely be unveiled in 2016, followed by a release sometime in 2017.

Mario Kart Torsion Pendulum Clock

3 o’clock? More like Luigi o’clock, amiright? I say this because the hands on the clock look like an ‘L’…okay that joke was funnier in my head.

Anyways, whenever I see one of those fancy torsion pendulum clocks, specifically ones with the the orb-shaped weights, I am reminded of the Koopa shells spinning around a racer in Mario Kart.

IKEA RIBBA Papercraft Part 2: Super Mario Bros

This papercraft project was designed and made by Remko Voets, who was awesome enough to share this here with everyone. Thank you Remko!

A few years back I made Mario 3 diorama that was tailored to fit IKEA’s Ribba box frame. That was my last papercraft project. I intended to make more but I hate my printer (the feeling is mutual I think).

Fortunately Remko took the reigns and constructed this beauty. He made two flavors: a simple one with all the art on a single image (which is smart - I went back and did the same for my Mario 3 one), and one where you’d have to assemble everything. After the jump you can find everything you need to make your own.

Bullet Bill Earbuds

Bullet Bill Nintendo earbud design 2013 dave delisle davesgeekyideas

I was perusing some earbuds recently when I made the observation that the Skull Candy logo seemed reminiscent of the skull seen on the Bullet Bill cannon. And eureka, a geeky design was born. This earbud design features a Bullet Bill character on each earpiece, and a Bullet Bill cannon as a fastener/clip.
