Adventure Time Syrup, Independent Thought Alarm Button

Adventure Time Canadian Maple SyrupA few weeks ago Adventure Time featured some “Canadian Maple Syrup” guards (they hail from the Breakfast Kingdom), and as a Canadian I thought they were hilarious. I mean, they were standing on guard fer crêpes sake.

Anyways I think it would be awesome if a maple syrup company produced a collectors bottle to look like this character. Granted, the dude is a throwaway gag, but I still want one.

Independent Thought Alarm Simpsons

I was in my neighborhood Staples recently (What? Even us lowly bloggers need practical office solutions), when I saw their famous Easy Button gag gift, which is a button that serves no function. So I thought if I wanted a geeky non-functioning button on my desk, it would be the Independent Thought Alarm from The Simpsons.

Sure it could be wired up to something or make a buzz sound when pressed, but I’d be happy with a plain trinket that I’d park on my desk. I feel it would be a hit with teachers and other people in positions of authority (bosses or supervisors).

I’ve been looking at electrical switch boxes and press buttons for a DIY version, so stay tuned for news on that.

  1. Wouldn’t it make sense to have a caged red light on top to simulate the “Skinner” side of the alarm function?

Also, I’ve been toying with the idea of turning one of those ‘easy’ buttons into a ‘hard’ button by re-lettering it, swapping out the sound module, and covering it in spikes, nails, upturned screws, etc.
