Supernatural Blu-Ray Case: The Devil’s Gate

(UPDATE May 13th, 2019) This is an updated design of the original box set, which was based on the front door of the Devil’s Gate (pics here, here, and here). Thought I’d revamp it so the Devil’s Gate is shrunken down to a small lock on a fancy case. It still opens with the Colt that doubles as a key.

The Colt fastens onto the front with a magnet. Maybe it should be chained on, I’m not sure. I wanted a vanilla case that can fit in with the rest of the movie library on the shelf. The black and silver is reminiscent of the car from the show.

This case is ready for all 15 seasons when the show concludes in 2020. That is quite an incredible run! My memory is fuzzy, but I think I caught one of the first episodes right after Smallville, a lifetime ago.

WALL-E Blu-Ray Case

Whenever possible I like to use film props as the basis for a Blu-Ray special edition cases, and for WALL-E I thought I’d use a simple but striking prop seen briefly in the film, the recolonization manual (or Manuel, as the captain called it). It’s a cool-looking book with an illuminated leaf emblem on the cover.

Sons Of Anarchy Blu-Ray Case

Sons of Anarchy box set design by Dave Delisle

For Sons Of Anarchy I thought I’d put together a cigar box case that resembled the gang’s meeting table. It features a magnetic gavel lock on the side. To make all the cases easier to extract from the box, I put the discs in CD-sized jewel cases.

Jurassic Park Blu-Ray Case

This is just an old idea from a few years back (posted on 2010/09/12, since deleted). The original Jurassic Park Blu-Ray case really helped launch this blog from relative obscurity, so it’s something I’ll always look back on fondly. Certainly helped make me feel less silly about posting stuff, that’s for sure.

The only change I made from previous incarnations is the Velociraptor cage is more screen-accurate. I could’ve made it 100% exact, but I wanted to keep the cage openings fewer in number and larger in size, so the Raptor eye peering out is noticeable. The addition of the ladder makes this design look more ornate, but less-friendly for sitting within your Blu-Ray library - so it is an optional attachment I feel.

Adventure Time Beemo Blu-Ray Case

Adventure Time blu-ray case design by Dave's Geeky Ideas

Started watching Adventure Time this past month, and it’s safe to say I’m a big fan. It’s a whimsical, carefree show which makes for a nice chaser for something like Breaking Bad.

I made this design very simple because I am often told my concepts are too expensive to execute. It is a cardboard sleeve with an insert that holds several Blu-Ray cases. It is based on BMO (Beemo), a character fashioned after an old Game Boy.

Back To The Future Flux Capacitor Blu-Ray Case

UPDATE: Universal is releasing an official Flux Capacitor blu-ray edition (see below). Hooray! I remember posting this design in 2010, a few months before the 25th anniversary set came out. Nice to see it become a reality.
