The Super Campus
Wouldn’t it be cool if the Avengers HQ was an actual University Campus? Accompanied by dorms that looked the Xavier Mansion? Both locales are places I’d love to visit in real life; but as tourist traps there wouldn’t be much to them (save for the basement in the X-mansion), so it would be more worthwhile if they served as institutions of learning.
It’s just a dream right now, but I could envision several tech companies like Apple, Google, and Facebook coming together to build such a school. I would only stipulate they build it in upstate New York to keep things authentic. Maybe Fox and Disney can also chip in, as such a place would allow them to film on location.
In the vein of Tony Stark this could be a technical institute, however I’d be happy with any specialty like medicine or science. Law school wouldn’t work — this isn’t a breeding ground for villains, haha.
X-Men Collection Blu-Ray Stand
You read that right: this is a stand, not the usual case design I tend to post here. Because there are so many X-Men Blu-Ray/DVD releases (standalone and box sets), I felt I should put together a design to show off the mutant superhero movies you already have.
This stand is similar to a bookend, only inserted into the middle of your Blu-Ray library for dramatic effect. The clear plastic (or glass) stand would give the illusion that several Blu-Rays are being levitated by Magneto*, who also appears to be floating in midair.
If it were up to me I’d sell this with only Days of Future Past, the rest of the films you’d have to supply yourself. Thanks to the bookend nature of this design, it is future-proof; you can place all of the future X-Men films adjacent to the stand. Read the rest of this entry
Sentinel Robot Public Sculpture/Comic-Con Prop
This is something I that I thought would make for a fun (and geeky) public art sculpture: the severed head of a Sentinel robot from the X-Men comics. It would be neat in a public park, however I feel it would be very much at home on a university or college campus as a nod to the Xavier Institute.
In all honesty I doubt any city or school would permit such a geeky art installation, so I think this would be a neat prop that could be parked at comic conventions. Cosplayers and geeks could get their picture taken with the fallen robot, which would be a pretty cool keepsake.
This art installation/show prop could have lights in the eyes, which adds a bit of flavor. The Sentinel could blink back to life momentarily or stare angrily for prolonged periods of time.
Maybe that fella who built the life-size Skeletor could make this?
If you dig this please check out my take on geeky landmarks.
One last thing: the Sentinels have to be in the new X-Men: Days Of Future Past film, right? That would be awesome.
