EA NHL 16-Bit Figurines
When I was a kid I used to own the Wayne Gretzky Overtime table hockey set. Every hockey player, including those that came with the table, came with a little stand so you can display them when they’re not affixed to the table.*
I mention these table hockey players because they were small and fun to collect (and even customize). I’m hoping that one day a similar approach could be taken with NHL players from the EA 16-bit era (NHL Hockey 92, NHLPA 93, NHL 94 - NHL 97). These small figurines would be a blast to collect.
*These stands were great because you can snap them together to make a big team stand. A similar approach could be used for the EA figurines too.
Vancouver Skytrain Map - Super Mario 3 Style
UPDATE: A new version of the map has been made, check it out here.
Original post as follows:
Here is a Skytrain map which was inspired by actual maps I have seen in the trains and stations. I hope you enjoy it!
Battleship Blu-Ray Case
I recently predicted that next year’s Battleship film would be released in a case that features the namesake board game - and that it would be awesome. Having declared that, I thought it would be cool to make a rough visual estimate of what it would look like.
It would take a form similar to the retail game, with separate clam-shells. I figure the discs could be stored underneath the playing areas. This would be the exact size of a typical Blu-Ray box set when closed.
TMNT Blu-Ray Case
This is my least original creation! And for a few reasons: there has already been a pizza-themed box set for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and this is a shameless rip-off of the excellent Scooby-Doo Mystery Machine DVD box set. However this being a design I would want to buy, I may as well throw it out there. Plus it was fun to make, so why not.
To be honest this started out as a slipcase, much like the View Askew design I did recently. I just decided to go full-bore and make the vehicle. It really could work as a simple box with the vehicle plastered all over the sides. I might still do that eventually.
In my estimation this would be close in size to the original TMNT van toy. As a result it could easily accommodate a few figures in the front cabin, much like the previously-mentioned Scooby-Doo design. If going with the slipcase alternate, then it would just hold normal Blu-Ray cases alone, nothing else.
I decided to go with the late 80’s/early 90’s cartoon era of TMNT for this design, though different styles could be issued for the films and the late 90’s/early 00’s version of the cartoon.
UPDATE (Aug 27/2012): There is now an official release of a TMNT collection in a turtles van. Below is a pic, more details can be found here.
Kool-Aid Sports Bottle
Here’s a fun design that adds the Kool-Aid Man to your typical sports bottle. He would be perched at the top part of the bottle, and would be translucent so you can see your beverage.
I don’t know if people would use it for actual Kool-Aid, but I think it would appeal to nostalgia buffs on the go.
Crayola Crayons 3DS Case Design
Here’s a fun cover design that turns the 3DS into a box of crayons, and the stylus into a crayon as well.
Geeky Beds Part 4: Jurassic Park
It’s been awhile since I posted something related to Jurassic Park, fortunately this idea came to mind for the Geeky Bed series.
There are already quite a few bed frames out there (especially from IKEA) that look similar to this bed frame. Just need to slap on some silver paint and alternating lights to mimic the electrical fence from the first film.
While grownups and kids may get a kick out of this design, it just occurred to me it would look much better as a crib, or one of those safety gates you place to keep toddlers/pets at bay as well.
