Doctor Claw Ring
Last week I posted a design for this Dr. Claw-inspired ring. I am pleased to announce you can now grab this at Shapeways for purchase (commission-free). Click here or the image to head to the listing. Available in US sizes 7, 8, 9, 10, and 11. Available in numerous materials as well.
Now you can give the gift that says I will get you next time, Gadget! NEXT TIME!
Special thanks to Michael Mueller, who prepared the model for Shapeways. He’s quite versed in 3D jewelry, his designs are excellent. Please check out his selection of rings and pendants here.
This marks my first foray into 3D goods. So on top of the posters, shirts, and hockey jerseys I currently peddle, I’m starting to feel like a department store.
Adventure Time Beemo Blu-Ray Case
Started watching Adventure Time this past month, and it’s safe to say I’m a big fan. It’s a whimsical, carefree show which makes for a nice chaser for something like Breaking Bad.
I made this design very simple because I am often told my concepts are too expensive to execute. It is a cardboard sleeve with an insert that holds several Blu-Ray cases. It is based on BMO (Beemo), a character fashioned after an old Game Boy.
Beemo comes with a detachable arms (not unlike Mr. Potatohead’s). The legs are connected in a horseshoe shape, perfect for a stand the case can sit on. The feet can swivel for some pose-ability, but mostly to allow for all the accessories to be stored in the case (for shipping and display).
The best feature of this design is an interchangeable face, made possible by a square hole punched into the main sleeve, and numerous expressions placed on all the Blu-Ray cases. Each case can have up to 4 expressions. You then place the case at the front of the box in the correct orientation to display the expression (or video game even) that you want.
Here is what a case design would look like:
Again this is the “frugal” design. I feel the limbs are optional too:
You can also go in the opposite direction with a fancy plastic case featuring molded buttons and a few controllers as well. I just thought I’d put together a design that was practical and could conceivably be released.
Geek Bling Part 8: Dr. Claw Ring
UPDATE: You can now grab one here.
Argh. Nobody makes this. Not even those Etsy folks! This should be like, the top-selling ring in the whole world (for people 28 and older).
The main reason I am disappointed by this discovery: my henchmen have been really goofing around lately. I feel that if I wielded this ring, I can slam my fist down repeatedly and they’d pay attention and shake in their boots. I’m sure you can relate.
In all seriousness I am surprised this doesn’t exist. Even if Dr. Claw didn’t wear this ring, the ‘MAD’ brand is quite recognizable. Note to self: design a MAD hockey jersey. EDIT: I did.
Rabbit Season And Duck Season Posters
I love to make stuff that people can print. It’s a weird consolation prize for not being able to deliver any actual products I feature here. At the same time it’s stuff that I enjoy printing myself, so a win-win situation all round.
Please post these responsibly, because they have the potential to get me in hot water if used in a way that is considered vandalism. I’m always a Google search away from law enforcement authorities, apparently. Don’t shoot any rabbits or ducks either.

Geek Bling Part 7: Spider-Man
This edition of Geek Bling features the friendly neighborhood webhead, who is no stranger to necklaces/chains, but for some reason no one has made the chain itself the web, at least in this obvious a fashion.
The design and pose is based on the 60’s cartoon, which has now been reduced to fodder for internet memes. I have a soft spot for the poorly-animated series, because I feel it was the first ever motion comic (and likely intended as such), not a traditionally animated cartoon.
Nearly had a few of my past Geek Bling designs made, which I would have made available here like I did my hockey jerseys. But alas, can’t seem to find a willing jewelry maker. Hopefully one day I can arrange something for interested people.
